There was nothing terribly remarkable about Henry Jekyll, unless one counted his slightly eccentric behavior. From a young age, before he even entered university, he had been struck by an idea. A marvelous idea that lit the world, like an angel's tender hand. He would rid the world of evil, or at least make it easier to bear.

He had his own sins he wished himself rid of, yes. Not only the things that he would whisper to his dearest friend, John Utterson, but other things that he would not even dare say. Things that he would not venture to admit. Still, he had insisted to himself that he sought to help all humanity, not only himself.

He first made himself truly known to his peers, the first time that they had even glanced a second time at the mousy boy who simply sat quietly in all his classes, scribbling down more on a page than the professor could possibly be talking about, in his second year at Oxford. It had been an anatomy class, and he had posed a question that the professor had laughed at. "What sort of chemical combination would you suggest, sir, to alter a personality?" The professor had been caught off guard, as his lesson was quite different, but he had indulged the young man. "What sort of change were you hoping to achieve, Mr...?" "Jekyll. I was hoping to achieve the separation of good and evil, and the eventual removal of the evil into a separate entity." "What you speak of is nothing more than fantasy and madness," the professor had replied tersely. For several minutes, he had been allowed to resume his lecture, but soon Jekyll had stood and strode out of the class, never to return.

His work continued and, finally, he had managed to, he was sure, isolate the chemical process. Denied by the hospital in his petition for a human test subject, the doctor drank his own formula. It worked... to some degree. There was a separation of the evil, into a being known as Edward Hyde. A different form, but still the same body, and Henry Jekyll was left a man with good and evil warring inside of him, rather than the saint that he had imagined. Worse still was the newfound power of Hyde, which Jekyll indulged for too long before seeing the death, the danger. By that time, it was too late to be rid of him.

After terrible crimes, Hyde fled England, and he made his home in the seediest part of Paris. Eventually, a group of men, and a strange woman, had come for him, with a deal on how he could return to England, pardoned for his past crimes. He and Jekyll had willing agreed. Together with Allan Quatermain, Tom Sawyer, Mina Harker, Rodney Skinner, and Captain Nemo (there had been another, but he had betrayed them all so Jekyll refused to count him as part of the group on the ordeal was over) they made formed something called the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and set off to earn the pardon promised. Together, the League... well, that is a story for another day. So, after a long, long time, Henry Jekyll returned to England... and he, unfortunately, brought Edward Hyde back with him.

OOC: Henry Jekyll is property of Robert Louis Stevenson. The incarnation of him that I play is based on the movie and novelization of the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Its screenplay was written by James Robinson and it was converted into a novel by K. J. Anderson. It is based off a comic book by Allan Moore and Kevin O'neill. I do not intend to claim any of this as my own and am merely acting as a fanfiction writer. I make no money off this and intend no disrespect.

Jason Flemyng is a marvelous British actor whom I am using to represent Henry Jekyll and his alter-ego Edward Hyde. Again, I make no money off my use of Mr. Flemyng's likeness.
